On the classic "Bro-Rakan" you can your car stretch out properly. Local street races occur every now and then. Something the local law enforrcement seem to be quite aware and relaxed about.
The car that completely put the supercar segment into sway when 2007 replaced the already powerful Nissan Skyline GT-R.
No matter what people like the shapes, technology or Nissan restrictions, GT-R is among the fastest you can buy for less than a million SEK. It can also match against most supercars on the market, which in some cases costs twice as much, if not more. Gotland during the summer months in all honor, sun, bath and always a fun party to dance the shirt off to sunrise.
“GT-R quickly got the nickname Godzilla because of its distintive forms”
But one week in October, there is an island in a completely different way, because the summer visitors have left to go home and the beautiful roads lie virtually empty all over the island. Therefore, we took the new Nissan GT-R to truly experience the roads and beautiful places in peace and quiet.
The V6 engine in GT-R is double-tipped and 3.8 liters. The effect is now 570 horses, which is almost 100 horsepowers more than the original version presented. The sprint from zero to hundred takes just 2.8 seconds, which is a tenth faster than Lamborghini Aventador, a car that costs just over 300 thousand dollars.
By contrast, the Nissan GT-R can not measure up to the top speed of Lamborghini and will look overlooked when the meter reaches 315 kilometers per hour. However, this statistics is for the second to last generation of the GT-R and Nissan has not wanted to disclose the top speed for the new generation.
However, the fact that the TG-R is fast is not to be doubted, especcialy when we take it to a secluded road which usually is used for street racing. Secluded with almost no traffic you can let the GT-R stretch out, without worrying about one or the other...
As the journey goes from the southernmost tip of Gotland, the roads are wonderfully varied with curves and straight stretches. The new GT-R is more snug and has a comfortable position on the dampers. Together with the enhanced Bosé sound system, long trips are very comfortable. But it's not really what we are here to experience. With the dampers set to the R and gearbox in manual mode, each millimeter is maximized in the curves.
“The Nissan GT-R is brutally fast and accurate, nothing stands the way for its drive thanks to a highly efficient anti-slip system and four-wheel drive”
A bit north of the island is Gotland Ring, one of Sweden's absolute best racing tracks. Inspired by the Nürburgring in Germany, the track offers challenging curves and straight stretches. A day pass here costs 1 585 SEK and an annual card of 6 500 SEK. The course is open for public driving virtually every weekend year-round if weather permits.
The trip continues northwards and by ferry to Fårö. Here the roads lie more lonely and out along the coast, the scenery on scenes makes it difficult to understand that they are in Sweden. At the far end of the northeast, we reach Fårö Lighthouse. This will be the end of a speedy and highly adrenaline-filled journey.
