The design brief for the Súper Coffee and Food Store was straight and simple: to create a restaurant and kitchen where good and healthy food is produced and sold either as a take away or consumed on site within the retail space. The owners are an innovative couple. They are constantly exploring and developing their offer to provide their clients with a quality, healthy meal that includes coffee as well. Therefore they needed a design that allows flexibility.
“The sun is always shining in this spot of Barcelona”
The kitchen space is clean and functional with white tiles and steel. In this environment the food is the protagonist. The retail area of Súper, where the food and coffee are sold, is a colorful space. The mustard yellow from the tinted concrete floor and the raw concrete bricks give the sensation that the sun is always shining in this spot of Barcelona.
There are two eye-catching red-framed windows facing into a red space, which has changed from an experimental crop-growing laboratory to an extended office. The red windows can be either used as a seat or as a shelving unit. They provide the space with options and therefore flexibility and at the same time define a unique element in the Súper Coffee and Food Store.
