Oatmeal With Crispy Oat Kernel Topping

A creamy porridge with a nice contrast of crispy sugar-toasted oat kernel really kicks this everyday breakfast up a notch!



For 4 servings

4 dl oatmeal
6 dl water
2 dl of milk
1 pinch salt

Sugar-toasted oat kernels (8 servings)

2 dl oat kernel
1 teaspoon rapeseed oil
1 tablespoon raw cane sugar

For serving

Fresh berries
Sugar toasted oat kernel



Boil oats, water and salt and let it simmer for about 3 to 5 minutes. Whisk in the milk and allow it to simmer for a few more minutes while whisking until the porridge has a lean consistency.

Serve with milk, fresh berries and crispy oat kernel.

Oat kernels

Heat the oil in a pan and quickly toast the oat kernels on high heat for a few minutes. Stir occasionally so they are not burned. Sprinkle in sugar and stir until it has melted.

Let it cool and store it in a jar with lid.

* Tip

Some milk in the porridge towards the end gives a lighter texture. Oat kernels are much tougher than grain and very good in muesli, granola, with porridge or salad.
